The cost for one egg donation cycle is approximately $15,000 and includes the costs for both the donor’s and recipient’s care and clinic costs. If you are paying your donor additional compensation for her time or discomfort, your costs will be higher, but there are no increase in IVF success rates. Some donors are paid up to $7500 per cycle. Unlike in adoption or other types of donation, the donor is actually paid for her donation because it is such an arduous procedure and one that carries risks of impacting her future fertility.
Ask the clinic for a breakdown of costs for the following items:
application and consultation;
donor screening;
screening for you and your partner;
donor reimbursement;
drugs for donor and yourself;
ultrasounds and blood tests;
oocyte retrieval;
lab procedures;
implantation of oocytes; and,
freezing, storage, and thawing of oocytes.
